Turning Point
After Somerset tied the game in the middle innings, Akron pulled away in the seventh. Jaison Chourio singled to open the inning before advancing to second when Bennett Thompson was hit by a pitch. Later in the inning, Walton doubled down the left field line to score Chourio and put Akron back in front 8-7.
Mound Presence
Izaak Martinez made the spot start for Akron on Sunday. The left-hander allowed just a solo home run over three innings while striking out three. After an inning plus of relief from Zane Morehouse, Jay Driver struck out three over two scoreless innings. Carter Rustad struck out five over three scoreless innings.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks came out of the gates swinging on Sunday. Thompson opened the scoring in the first with a two-run home run. Two batters later, Walton hit a solo home run to make it 3-0 Akron after one. In the second, Ryan Cesarini lined a one-out RBI double before back-to-back walks by Chourio and Thompson brought in another run. Nolan Schubart capped the scoring with a two-run single to make it 7-0 Akron.

The win gave Akron’s their first series win since the three-game sweep of Binghamton July 17-19 as well as the first six-game series win and first home series win since May 12-17 against Chesapeake…Walton’s homer was his first in Double-A…Cesarini doubled four times in the six-game set…Akron stole 15 bases in the six games and slugged nine home runs…Game Time: 2:35…Attendance: 4,664.
