Summary

Tyresse Turner’s three-hit night leads the Akron RubberDucks past the Somerset Patriots 6-3 on Saturday night at 7 17 Credit Union Park.

Turning Point

Akron’s offense got to Somerset starter Ben Hess in the second. Aaron Walton doubled to open the inning before stealing third base. Two batters later, Turner lined a single into right to put Akron ahead 1-0. After back-to-back walks by Logun Clark and Jhorvic Abreus loaded the bases, Ryan Cesarini doubled into the left-center gap to score three and make it 4-0 RubberDucks.

Mound Presence

Sean Matson looked sharp in his third start of the season. The right-hander faced just two over the minimum in the first three innings. In total, Matson allowed three runs over 4.2 innings while striking out four. Jack Jasiak struck out two over 2.1 scoreless innings. Zach Jacobs allowed just one hit over two scoreless innings to finish out the win.

Duck Tales

The RubberDucks added some insurance in the fifth. Bennett Thompson worked a one-out walk before advancing to second on a single by Dean Curley. After a double steal put both men in scoring position, Walton lifted a sac-fly to score Thompson. Two batters later, Turner singled to center to score Curley and make it 6-3 Akron.
