Three Homers Carry Ducks Over Curve 4-3

Turning Point

Already up 3-0 in the sixth, Akron looked to add some insurance. Thompson launched a two-out solo home run to put the RubberDucks ahead 4-0.

Mound Presence

Ryan Degges was excellent again in his second Double-A start. The right-hander allowed just three hits over 4.1 innings while striking out five. Michael Kennedy allowed just one run on a solo home run over 2.2 innings while striking out three. Jay Driver allowed two runs in his inning of work. Adam Tulloch stranded runners at the corners by getting a game ending groundout to finish a scoreless ninth.

Duck Tales

After hitting four home runs on Tuesday night, the RubberDucks power carried over to Wednesday. Curley got the fireworks started in the second inning when he launched a two-out, two-run home run to give Akron the 2-0 lead. Cesarini kept his hot bat going with a solo home run in the third to make it 3-0 RubberDucks.

After hitting nine home runs in the six-game series against Somerset last week, Akron has seven home runs through the first two games of the series in Altoona…Cesarini’s home run was his fourth of the series and sixth in Double-A…Degges has struck out 13 over 8.2 scoreless innings since joining Akron…Game Time: 2:43…Attendance: 3,153.
