Somerset answered Akron’s big 11th with one of its own. The Patriots scored five times highlighted by a two-run home run by DJ Gladney and the walk-off two run single by Jace Avina to pick up the win.

Mound Presence

Rafe Schlesinger got the start on Tuesday. Somerset worked a lot of deep counts against the left-hander, but he was able to avoid damage most of the night. In total, Schlesinger allowed two runs (one earned) over 4.1 innings while striking out five. Carter Rustad allowed a run over 2.2 innings. Dylan DeLucia allowed a run and struck out two in an inning pitched. Jay Driver allowed one unearned run in two innings. Zach Jacobs allowed five runs (four earned).

Duck Tales

Akron jumped in front on the third batter of the game. Jace LaViolette launched a solo home run to make it 1-0 Ducks. After Somerset scored two in the bottom of the first, Akron answered back in the fifth. Luke Hilllaunched a two-run home run to put Akron ahead 3-2. Later in the inning Jaison Chourio walked and stole second before coming around to score on a single by LaViolette. In the tenth, Chourio singled home placed runner Alex Mooney to make it 5-4 Ducks. In the 11th, Hill got the big inning going with an RBI single. After a Mooney sac-fly scored a second run, Ryan Cesarini launched a two-run home run to make it 9-5 Akron.
