CLEVELAND – The NBA announced today that Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, November 17, through Sunday, November 23. This is Mitchell’s ninth player of the week honor of his career and sixth time as a Cavalier, making him just the second player in franchise history to win the award six or more times (LeBron James - 42). Mitchell’s recent honor also marks the 72nd time a Cavalier has ever won the weekly award.

This past week, Mitchell led the Cavaliers to a 3-1 record, averaging a team-high 31.8 points (2nd-highest in East), 6.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.3 steals in 34.3 minutes per contest. Mitchell, the only Eastern Conference player to average at least 30.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists this past week, ranked second in the East in scoring and field goals made (47), third in three-pointers made (16), and tied for 18th in both assists and steals per game. His .566 clip from the field was the highest among all East players who averaged at least 30.0 points. Additionally, Mitchell scored 36 total points in the fourth quarter this past week, the highest in the conference, and recorded three performances of at least 30 points, five rebounds, five assists and four three-pointers.

In the first game of the week, a 118-106 victory over Milwaukee on Nov. 17, Mitchell recorded 37 points, five rebounds, seven assists and four triples in 36 minutes. He followed that up with 21 points, including 19 in the fourth quarter, during Cleveland’s contest against Houston on Nov. 19. That night, he also surpassed Zydrunas Ilgauskas (157 games) for the eighth-most 20-point outings in Cavaliers history. In Cleveland’s 120-109 NBA Cup victory over Indiana on Nov. 21, Mitchell had a near double-double with 32 points, nine boards and five assists. In the week’s final contest, a 120-105 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 23, he posted strong numbers across the board with 37 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five three-pointers while also passing Kyrie Irving (423 3FG) for the fifth-most threes made in franchise history.

Mitchell is also registering career highs in field goal percentage (.515) and three-point percentage (.393) and is one of only four NBA players averaging at least 30.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists this season, along with Nikola Jokić, Luka Dončić and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
