Summary

Nolan Schubart homered but the Somerset Patriots scored two in the ninth to come from behind and defeat the Akron RubberDucks 3-2 on Wednesday night at 7 17 Credit Union Park.

Turning Point

Somerset rallied with two outs in the ninth. Back-to-back doubles by Josh Moylan and Miguel Palma tied the game before an RBI single by Connor McGinnis put the Patriots ahead 3-2.

Mound Presence

Ryan Degges was dominant in his Double-A debut. The right-hander was perfect through three and did not allow a hit until the fifth. In total, Degges tossed four and third scoreless innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out eight. Izaak Martinez struck out three in two scoreless innings. Carter Rustad allowed three runs over two and two-third innings of work.

Duck Tales

Akron’s two runs came in the fourth. Schubart opened the inning with a solo home run off the ribbon board in left field. Later in the inning, back-to-back one out singles by Alex Mooney and Maick Collado put runners on the corners. Mooney stole home when Somerset starter Xavier Rivas picked over to first to give Akron the 2-0 lead.
