Cavaliers Exercise Fourth-Year Team Option on Craig Porter Jr.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have exercised their fourth-year team option on guard Craig Porter Jr., Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman announced today.

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Cavaliers have exercised their fourth-year team option on guard Craig Porter Jr., Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman announced today.

Porter Jr. (6-2, 188) appeared in a career-high 64 games (three starts) last season for Cleveland with averages of 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 17.9 minutes per game. Over his three-year NBA career with the Cavaliers, Porter Jr. has played in 166 games (10 starts), scoring in double figures in 26 games and 20 or more points twice. Porter Jr. has also recorded 10 or more assists in four career games, including three times last season. He owns career averages of 4.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 13.9 minutes per contest.  

In a 130-116 win at Miami last season on November 12, 2025, Porter Jr. recorded a season-high 19 points, including a perfect 3-3 shooting from the three-point line, nine assists, four rebounds, four blocks and three steals in 32 minutes. He became the first player in Cavs history to finish a game with at least 19 points, nine assists, four blocks and three steals and was the second player in NBA history to do that in a game off the bench, joining Clifford Robinson (22 points, eight assists, four blocks and three steals on January 20, 1993). The Terre Haute, Indiana native was originally signed by the Cavaliers on a Two-Way contract on July 7, 2023, after going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Wichita State. He was also a member of Cleveland’s 2023 Summer League Championship team shortly after being signed. Prior to joining Cleveland, Porter Jr. played three seasons at Wichita State (2020-23), appearing in 75 games (59 starts) for the Shockers. During his senior season (2022-23), he averaged 13.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.52 steals and 1.48 blocks in 33.5 minutes, becoming the first player in program history to lead the team in rebounding, assists, blocks, and steals in the same season.
