The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters announced Friday that the Blue Jackets reassigned goaltender Evan Gardner to Cleveland from the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades.

The AHL’s Cleveland Monsters announced Friday that the Blue Jackets reassigned goaltender Evan Gardner to Cleveland from the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades. In 52 appearances for Saskatoon this season, Gardner went 25-16-6 with three shutouts, a 2.96 goals-against average (GAA) and .902 save percentage (S%), and posted a record of 4-5-2 with a 3.04 GAA and .907 S% in 11 postseason games.
A 6’1”, 181 lb. left-catching native of Fort St. John, BC, Gardner, 20, was selected by Columbus in the second round (60th overall) of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. In one AHL appearances for Cleveland last season, Gardner stopped 16 of 19 shots faced in a 3-0 Cleveland road loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on April 19, 2025. In 126 career WHL games for Saskatoon spanning three seasons from 2023-26, Gardner went 69-34-11 with ten shutouts, a 2.66 GAA and .911 S% and led the league in GAA (1.91) and S% (.927) in 2023-24.
